Q: How much money will be needed for the conference and tournament?

A: Kick it with Kenya is an annual event, so continuously raising money is a vital thing.  Each conference will vary in costs depending on the number of participants.  We would like to provide each participant with school supplies, jerseys, mosquito nets, etc.  Each year we will need around $5,000 to provide a successful conference for these youth!

Q: Why are flashlights so important?

A: There is no electricity in most of the villages so after the sun sets there is no light.  Many youth are afraid to walk home in the dark because of wild animals.  Walking anywhere in the dark may be difficult and dangerous due to terrible road conditions, and not to mention crazy drivers.  These solar flashlights are super bright LED lights and hold a single charge for over 3 years and when turned on will last for more then 16 hours.  Students will now be able to read and study after the sun goes down, something they've never been able to do before.

Q: I want to donate, but I don't want to put my credit card info on the web.

A: You may send a check directly to Village Volunteers, make sure you put Kick it with Kenya on there to ensure that your money goes to these youth.  100% of donations are tax-deductible.

Q: How will Kick it with Kenya be sustainable?

A: Each year we plan to have a conference in a different area in Kenya.  If possible we will hire participants from the previous year to teach the conference of that year.  By apply for grants and through long-term sponsorship this program will be very successful.

We will also be filming parts of the conference and tournament to bring back to the U.S. and put together a short film about Kick it with Kenya.  This will be shown to youth soccer teams that are interested in having their own tournament and conference to raise money for next years event in Kenya.

If enough funding is raised this year, we will hire youth who have excelled in this conference to speak at schools and teach what about what they have learned.  We will also eventually set up a micro financing part to this project to be able to give loans to youth after completing the conference to start their own businesses.  Loans will be paid back in full with a small interest (motivation), thus sustaining our program.
